I’m 6’-7 and, like our 2017 before it, our 2019 F350 is a relatively low 4x2 on 18” wheels.

I like the tailgate step!

This fat kid uses it all the time, I'm glad it's there. I get made fun of for my "old man step"every now and then, but who cares? I also added the Amp step at the front of the bed.

I like it, and its worth having.

however the trim on the top is always popping off, well not completely off but one side pops up and I have to tap it back down.

I like the Amp Research rear step way better than the Ford tailgate step. You can use it with the tailgate up; handy.

I call it the 'man step' and yes...I use it all the time. Made sure I included it when I placed my order.

I like mine and use it if I’m getting in and out of the bed a lot. For one-off’s I’ll use the step box I keep in the back corner of the bed. It holds rags, a few small tools and my 4-oz bottles of Opti-Lube. If I’m using the tailgate step I’ll usually put this step box below it as a first step. The tailgate step is a little high for me to reach comfortably.

Mine is a Stack-On SSR-20 Step-n-Store. I couldn’t find one online, but it’s very similar to the one pictured below.

I remember when Ford came out with this step and it was on the tailgate. I bugged all my ford buddies about needing a “man step” to get into the box. Now I’m in a Ford and love the step. If you use your box, you will use the step.

I really like how it’s built into the tailgate instead of the grab handle laying flat on the tailgate like the old models. I use my tailgate as a work bench a lot and that would of just got in the way.

When I ordered my F350 back in 2017 I made sure to get the step. The best $375 I ever spent.

Good luck

As above. Wife wanted option. No way I could live without it. Trucks are just too tall. The moulding on the top of the tailgate that covers it is starting to have a few broken tabs and I will have to buy a new one at some point but still worth it. When you drag stuff out it pulls it off.

I also ordered the extended running boards. It helps for a lot of little things like when my tonneau cover clips slide to the inside I'm able to reach them when it is folded up.

I've been happy with the AMP Research or the Bestop TrekStep on the last 4 trucks. I wouldn't get a factory step on an ordered truck, but if one on the lot had the step I wouldn't be against it either.

I love mine. I have the extended running boards, too. So, for bed access up near my cab, I can just step up on the running board. For total bed access, I use the step.

In the past, I'd use the tire as my step. And, my kids still do ... particularly with the extended running boards. For example, on the drivers side: left foot on the back of the extended running board, then right foot onto the top of the tire, and then swing your body into the bed. While I'm still young enough to do this, I prefer not to.

Extended running boards + Tailgate step = easily accessible bed.

I love mine, use it all the time. I'm getting too old to jump in and out of pickup beds. Plus I would imagine it's a good resale feature.

It IS a lot farther to the ground nowadays. I'm getting older and the trucks are getting higher. Gotta have some kind of assist.

The step is a symptom of our aging society. Today the step is considered a wonderful option.

How about back in the late 1970s: F-250 lifted, 4 barrel carburetor, headers, dual exhaust, Gumbo Monster Mudders, Rollbar with KC Lights, and pull out the little tailgate step and handle. Haha, haha.

Yes, my 2019 F-350 has the tailgate step. I do not use it because i have a 2 step ladder that doubles as a saw horse, tool stand, and many other uses. If that was not always handy i would use the step.

In fhe past 40-50 years gravity has become stronger. I no longer bounce right back up from a fall.
