hey all pine here, doing brake lines on 78 4x4 f150 frame, in doing that found few wires on drs side hanging under frame. 1 strait across from tranny like a 1in round rubber boot with 1 female contact in it, that frame came with 351m and auto trans wich are in it now. 2nd and 3rd wires are rear drs side 1 a foot in front and afoot behind the shock are female plug connectors same type, like to find out where the 3 go also fuel gauge dont work thanx in advance pine

Look at fuel tank and see if wire is plugged up on sending unit and should be a ground wire close as well ,,pictures would help , the 1st wire may have been for aux tank option or perhaps it plugged up to the brake proportional valve but again pictures would help
Or at least quote the wire colors including any traces (stripes) on them.
But the first one sounds like the 4x4 locked indicator lamp wire. Switch on the transfer case and lamp in the instrument cluster. Many trucks did not have the option, so no light or switch, but the wire was still there since Ford was saving time and cost by using the harness.
If any of the others have two female contacts, very likely they could be your fuel sender connector. One is to the gauge and the other to a short ground either to the body or to the frame.
