84 chassis swap

I have a 84 f250 2wd 6.9 C6. looking for a 4x4 chassis to put my clean body on. I know that 80 through 86 would be ideal, but are there other other year chassis that would work? with out any major surgery.
Thanks, Joe.

What is your goal? 4x4? That cab will fit on a f150 chassis also. Do you want to keep your engine or use the engine that comes with the chassis? If you want to use the 84 frontend and bumper, you will need to stay 1986 down. The very front of the frame is different 87-up.

Ya I want to keep the whole truck 80 to 86 4x4 , and would like to keep it a diesel. Would prefer 3/4, but be turned away from a 1/2 ton.
Thanks.

You will have to stay with a f250 or f350 since you want to keep the diesel. Unless you want to modify the front of the frame, stay with 86-dwn. You could convert the frame you have to 4x4. You could use a kit like in this link
https://www.skysoffroaddesign.com/co...ford-fsrob-002

The kit will give you all the brackets and mounting points your 2wd drive frame doesn't have. Then if you could find a 85.5-up dana 60 front axle, and a 4x4 trans and transfer case for a diesel and swap that in, you would have 4x4 with your frame you have now. The kit will lift the truck 2 inches.

80-91 are the same frames as far as interchangeability. You can use 92-97 as well but the front bumper mounts differently
