Hey guys, came accros a bit of a problem...
I was reinstalling my distributor harness (the one with the sensor plugs and coil plug) and came across a broken main distributor plug..
What should I do? Replace it? If so, is the little harness on the distributor replaceable? Or do I repair it?
thanks😁
I snipped mine off and put in a weatherpack plug. I find it easier than the stock plug, mine was stuck together. then after the repair I found wires rubbed where they went through that rubber block that sits in the dizzy housing to seal it. The whole rubber piece wore out.
If your trigger unit in the distributor checks out good, I'd probably replace the connector with Weatherpacks too. I have always had lousy luck with the Ford "Dura Spark" type connectors and have replaced quite a few with Weahterpacks over the years.
But if your unit ohms out anywhere near it's usable limits (400-800 ohms) then just replace it all. The new stator comes with the harness and plug, so you fix it all in one fell swoop.
