Here we go again

Been away for a while since I sold my E250 last year, the money offered was too good to say no. Moron was the nicest word my wife threw at me after I sold the van, so the search was on for a new one.
After considering several options, even Sprinters or Transits I narrowed the search down to an E-Series van again. The market for these vans is relatively small in Germany and prices are high to ay at least, so the search took a while.
I looked for either an ex-Ambulance or a EB cargo van. I even checked out an Ambulance 400mls from me, which looked good in the pictures. The reality was a mess, so off the list with it.
Last sunday, I was surfing eBay unsupervised by my wife, I scored this 2000 E350 EB 8-passenger van:

5.4 with 140k mls, bought from the second owner who took it from Ft. Bragg to Germany with him while stationed here with the US Forces. Needs some TLC around the rear fender wells, but overall not bad for 2.500$.
Next step is getting it safety inspected and title switched to a German one to get it registered. After that some camping stuff is to be build inside.

Welcome back to our world KarstenP----we're sick individuals all of us.

A quick look at your photos does show some immediate attention to the rear wheel wells and probably the pinchweld areas needs rust removal and treatment. Those areas are quite vulnerable to rust creeping quite quickly through the lower body---at this point they're manageable repair-wise. The 2000 model year seems to be a better made body--I have one myself and compared to an '03 I have its just a more solid construction. I'm sure that doesn't seem possible but I also have a friend with a 2003 as well and he has the same rust problems as me. Mine came to me gently used in 2008, his was bought new.

So anyway looking forward to your progress---good to see you again!

Interesting decal kit. Does that help lower the personal property taxes?

So what are your plans with it? Being an 8 passenger I expected the regular body style but that is the extended one right? Just more space between the rows and cargo area in the back? I like that set-up.

I have 2000 e350,it has been a 15 seater originally.
Currently it is registered to 8 seats.
Here on Finland, you need a bus licence if seats 8 and up..

LOL when I first saw the decals I thought the van had been side-swiped. It was not until I noticed they were on both sides that I realized it was decals!

Same here, everything 8+1 up needs bus license. The van is equipped with belts for all rows, so making it a church bus again wouldn't be a problem.
For me, I'll put the first row further forward and install a basic camper layout in the rear with sleeping platform, fridge etc. like I had in my old E250.

Great find man! Can't beat the miles or the price. Is the 5.4 a Diesel? I can't remember.
