Wanting to paint the under side of my cab and frame, in eastern Canada it’s all covered in surface rust. Seems impossible to get every crook and cranny with a wire brush on a grinder. I got all the scales and flakes off. So what’s the best method to paint it a gloss black? Get a rust converter first? Or use a rust paint to paint over the rust? Any specific paints appreciated. Thanks
I have not use a rust paint to paint over rust so cant say how that would work?
I have used Eastwood's rust encapsulator with brush, have not tried to spray it, and it covers good on rust not so good on clean bare metal.
I would them top coat it with something.
Now when I did floors / rockers / etc. on my 81 F100 after cleaning the welds and seam sealing all the edges I used Dupli color roll on bed liner, 2 coats top & bottom no top coat.
