Brake controller message

When I hook up my 5th wheel, I always use the manual lever and check the brakes working. The message comes up and says "gain 9, no trailer connected." I usually hit the brake a few times, and pull out. When I pull out the message will come up with my trailers name as connected. The last few times I noticed no message of connected comes up. If I go to trailer set-up screen it shows my trailer as connected. The light check shows all lights good. If I tap brakes all lights work. But, pull manual lever and it shows no trailer connected.

Why would it show this message if trailer connected and lights work, manual lever applies brakes? Any ideas or take to dealer and have cheked?

You may have a grounding issue. If under warranty I would snap a pic of the message and take it in. Otherwise look at the truck side connections at the plug in. Maybe wires that are look for the pins.
