Hi there, it's been a while. I am looking at swapping out a 351 Cleveland ( 1974 era ) with a 351m/400 engine ( 1976 era ). Besides the new electronic ignition/electrical I am looking for feedback regarding the transmission mating and possibly an issue with motor mounts. On another subject, same motors, can I pull the 4V carb and manifold from the old and install them onto the new which currently has a 2 barrel carb ? Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

The 351M uses the "big block" (335,385 series) transmission bolt pattern. Same as a 460. The 351C uses the small (Windsor 289,302, 351) block transmission bolt pattern, The 351M has a taller deck height than the 351C so you can't interchange intake manifolds. You can however put the 351C heads on the 351M.
Thanks for the info, the 351 C that I currently have appears to have spun a crank bearing ( I think without pulling it apart yet ) The other engine, 351 M has already been rebuilt and is in good running order, minus the benefits of the 4 barrel carb.

What car does the 351M come from? You may need to change engine mounts also.
Passenger Car and Econoline engine mounting parts will not work on F100/350/Bronco. 4WD engine supports (aka towers/stands/perches) will not work on 2WD's.
