No casting number

I have what appears to be a 302 trying to get a handle on what year it’s out of an 81 f150 but we no it is not original. Trying to insure we use the right flywheel. There is no casting number on the side of the block. All I can find is what I would call a rebuilders tag and it reads

any help would be appreciated.

Well '81 was right around the time engine balance changed so I get the question, if the rebuild used an early block it would be 28oz but if it's a later block it's 50oz. You say there are no casting numbers at all, they are usually down near the starter on the side or on later blocks on a flat that faces down and they can often get caked in gunk and be hard to see. I have seen blocks with some missing numbers but never one with none at all.

The imbalance depends on the crank, not the block. The changeover occurred around 81-82, the blocks used in that period were the E0AE blocks which were used with both 28 and 50 oz cranks. Then there was the switch to the 1 pc rear seal, that occurred after the 50 oz cranks came out. Get the casting numbers off the crank.
