Hopefully someone can help me out here.. 2008 f250 6.4 diesel. A few months back when I started it I noticed it went to a strange slightly elevated rpm idle. Then when I shifted I to drive it was an extremely hard shift and defaulted right to 5th gear. I was recommended to clean the connector on the trans and like magic it fixed the problem.. then it happened again a week later.. repeated the cleaning with no luck. Then it seemed to have fixed itself and didnt give me a problem again until now. All I have is park neutral rev and 5th. Throwing code P0657 Actuator supply voltage open circuit A. I have cleaned and inspected all connections at the tcm and trans. I pin tested the harness from the tcm to the trans and the solenoid harness. I tested for voltage output from the pcm and its present. And I also have voltage from tcm to solenoid harness. Hooked up to the scanner and with key on engine off the pcm commands for 1st gear..as soon as you start the engine it changes to commanding 5th.. I removed my tuner and flashed pcm back to stock and that didnt fix problem. I'm thinking maybe the pcm or tcm has got to be bad but I dont want to just start throwing parts at it without knowing for sure that's the issue. Any experience or advice would be appreciated.
