I bought myself a 1955 f100 in a million pieces, who doesn’t love a good puzzle right? As I’m working away on the suspension I’ve been trying to find out if there is a master bolt kit for the body, I know you can get them for mustangs and such. Does anyone know of any kits out there?
Yes, I think that there are but the ones that I saw were a bit pricey particularly with shipping. I just went down to Metro Bolt & Fastener and bought what I needed in bulk. They even had odd things like door hinge bolts. They are local for me so no shipping. You should put your location in your signature. There may be a similar store that members on this forum know about near you.
Thanks for replying! I would love to be able to go to a bolt shop and just pick everything up but I have no idea what kinds of bolts and fits etc that I need.
also I will add I’m in Toronto to my signature, thanks

Well your first step is to disassemble your truck (take lots of pictures as you go). Put your nuts, bolts etc. in separate containers and label those containers (e.g. LF Fender bolts, radiator bolts, etc.) You will start to see a pattern.
You should also but the Master Parts catalogue CD. It will give you the correct bolt and nut diameter, length and thread count used on every part.
Look at the Mid Fifty catalog and or lMC and you should see what style body bolts you will need. Then from them or get an AU-VE-CO catalog. For standard sae and uss any hardware store should sell your run of the mill foreign ( china junk ) fasteners.
I was looking through those sites but nothing specifically says button head or hex head for a 1955, anyone have an idea as to what type of head for the bolts?
There is a master parts catalog available for free now. Shoot, I'm not sure where that site is now. I know I posted a link before. Anyway, it is well worth the $22 if you can't find the free one. I have to head to work, but I will see if I can locate that link.
Here is a link to the master bolt kits. https://www.bodyboltkit.com/body-bolt-kits-29/
I just went to the hardware store and bought bolts by the pound It was much cheaper. The specialty bolts I bought individually as needed.
Found it! Free Master Parts Catalog https://www.blueovaltruckparts.com/diagrams
One pdf is the illustrations. You use that to find the four digit part number. Then you go to the text version and look up that 4 digit code to get the full part number as well as some details about it.
The only downside is that they are scanned images, so you can't do a search. But, it's broken down into sections and after you have used the books a bit, you can generally find most stuff quickly.
