Rebuild or replace?

I have a 2003 F250 with the 5.4l v8 2 valve with around 150000 to 160000 miles. About 2 years ago i was driving it down the high way when I lost oil pressure and it died and wouldn't restart so I had to have it towed. After getting it home I was able to get it restarted but it had developed a nasty knock typically louder at start up but got quieter as it warmed up while idling. Under load the knock would get louder and would eventually lose oil pressure again. My question is would it be better to rebuild the engine or swap it out for a new engine?

You won't know until you tear down the engine and see what's going on with it. Pull the engine...you're going to have to anyways...and then remove the heads and oil pan and take a peek.

I agree with bwguardian, you are going to have to pull the engine either way so you may as well take a look at it and see if it is worth rebuilding or not.
