Have the same problem and have searched the internet and various sites. No detailed write up that I have found thus far after a week or so. Is this not a popular subject or is it really that easy to handle? My question is serious. I am NOT a mechanic. I like to DIY but, I like to do it by lessons learned by guys here. It took me a day( all day) literally to do a rear axle seal/bearing and replace the spring/locker assembly in the 8.8 so, this is a bit intimidating for ME to say the least. Any help out there? Gents, it would be greatly appreciated.
No, it's a pretty easy project, but you should probably check a few other things while your in there. There are several good writeups over on fullsizebronco.com that you should check out. Permagasket black is what I used on mine when I rebuilt it. I would replace the pads on the forks while I was in there and do the pump arm modification before it spins free and destroys the case. It's a project that can be done in 4 hours taking your time if you familarize yourself with the case before taking it out.
