Noticed a small bit of leaking trans fluid on garage floor and my mechanic says I need a front transfer case seal. Anyone know what a dealer would might charge based on standard ford service for this repair. Advisable to do the rear seal at the same time? Many thanks...

All depends on what seal is the one that's leaking. We had our front output shaft seal replaced under the extended warranty we had. Normally I would have done the work myself, and actually I started to. But soon found out the yoke was part of the output shaft so the case had to be split in order to change the seal. If I recall correctly it was over a $1200 job.
Thanks for the info everyone. Just for future reference, my mechanic (not a ford dealer) completed the replacement of the front output shaft seal in 5hrs for $400. Parts were about $45. The had to drop the front part of the transmission which was most of the labor. My 05' Expdy has 114K miles.
