Hello..I' just received my boost gauge and I was looking for instructions on where to install the hose....I did a search and in one of the threads I found a link and the instructions where to drill and tap the aluminum intake air-horn except 94-97. for 94-97 the instructions are to use a "T" fitting in the hose to the MAP sensor, and I was under the impresion that any year could have the "T" fitting. Is this right???? do I have to drill and tap or is there a way to use a "T" fitting on my 2001??? thank you for any help you can give me.
Yes, you can use the "T" fitting installation on your 01.
Some gauges don't come with the "T" fitting and hardware and they only have the tap kit.
My Autometer Lunar gauge only came with the tap type installation.
I purchased a Banks "T" fitting boost kit for my installation. Banks boost kit part #63033.
I had the same isuues. I believe the instructions i red said that for a 2001 i could not use a t-line. So i just tapped it in. Not too hard, just make sure to stuff a rag in the tube prior to drilling so you can pull out all the shavings when your finished.
I have an Autometer Phantom series. It is installed in my 2001 via a T fitting with no problems. Super easy to do. I used kitchen shears to cut the MAP line.
I installed mine with a kit from Diesel Injection Service (DIS) in Texas, and was pretty easy. They had all I needed including the brass fittings that are clamped tight at each end vs. the Autometer fittings that were loose and need attaching. Western Diesel has a pretty good install sheet for gauges, and I think DIS has an instruction sheet that comes with the kit that will show you exactly where to put it.
