jd powers ratings

Read in the newspaper the 2003 Excursion was rated most appealing large SUV. Despite low sales.

The ford marketeers should wake up and keep making the beast. I see more X's on the road than burbs and tatoes. All they need to do is market what the real fuel eceonmy numbers are for the diesels and stop putting a 5.7 L in the 2W drive versions. Come on.....more room, more towing power, a pleasure to drive, kids love it. Sounds like Ford needs to fire their marketing gurus and advertising agents and market the beast. I got 41K on my 01 X and I ain't done improving its looks, performance or comfort. I would sure like to hop into a next gen X when I want to update my ride . I don't want a soccer momobile (sorry soccer moms of the world).

While I agree that the X should be marketed better and I'd like to see it continue past the 04 model year, I have to comment that if you're seeing more of them than the 'burbs on the road, you're not paying very close attention, IMO. At least here in MN, the Ex's are rare compared to the burbs. I own/owned both so I pay attention to them.

Just the other day the count was 7 X's and two Burbs. I would have bought a burb, till my trailer dealer told me the trailer I had would be too much weight for the burb? BTW the count was on a saturday afternoon in NJ.

They outnumber Subs here in Hawaii, too. But the Big Island is definantly Ford country! 2 out 3 vehicles here are Ford.

I, too, would like to see the next generation Excursion. As much as I liked mine, there is a lot of room for improvement! Start with the damn seats! No headrests (3rd row) is an insult...

If they gave the interior the feel and functionality of the latest Expedition, the real suspension of the current Super Duty, keep the frame, engine choices (V10 & PSD only), fuel capacity and raise to towing capacity (not that I need it higher...) and market it as a truck NOT "The King of SUV's! we would have a world beater!

*sigh* but I digress... Looks like I'll have to look forward to a stretched Expy and a good used 6.0L in a few years...

I totally agree with f_pumillo on this one. Here in Texas, Excursion's are becoming more and more popular (new and used). I too am actually starting to see them outnmber burbs, yukons, and tahoes. Today alone I saw 4 or 5 of them cruising around town. On good days I see atleast 5-10 of them. (most of them being diesels) If Ford would keep making them and marketing the true gas mileage on them, I bet they would sell better than they ever have before. Only time will tell, Ford still has an opportunity to change their mind if they want to.

Problem is the EPA doesn't do mileage tests on these trucks.

I do not believe that manufacturers can state the MPG performance.

So unless they lower the GVWR or the EPA changes thier rules, the only folks knowing the true mileage potential will be those who are reading this or other forums. Or talking to an owner...

I also imagine the Ex is getting more popular due to the rebates.

I agree about the motor options. If GM had put the dmax in the 'burb, I wouldn't be on this forum now. Ford has a real advantage there if they'd leverage it a bit, IMO.
