Cool Engine swap ?'s

Hello all,

I finally towed my donor truck over to my house and put it my back yard. I recieved a 1984 Ford F150 SuperCab XLT and it says 5.8L V4 H.O. on the Carb air cleaner. My daily driver that I am going to transplant into is a 1990 Ford F150 Custom. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what auto tranny was in that truck? I know I will have to get a new driveshaft and i am looking at Motor Mounts and tranny mounts. I am thinking its a C-6. Would it be hard to transplant this engine and tranny to my truck?

I am also trying to transplant most of the options, power locks, power windows, tilt steering. The truck came with a pair of 265/75R15's which i switched on to the back. I know that the new engine is carbed, and the old one is EFI, but I think I could get a really cool setup. My neighbor has a 71' Ford Mustang so it helps keep the initiative to complete the transfer.

Currently running a
1990 Ford F150 Custom, 300 I6, E4OD (slipping)

Going from EFI to carb is a good sized challenge.

The way he is doing it is not as bad a converting the engine from EFI to carb. All he has to do is take out one engine, do the motor mounts and slide the whole engine and tranny in. I believe the crossmember for the E4OD will work with the C6. Even if not, not that hard to change. He has all the parts, except the driveshaft. The cables may work, the Kick down should work, and he has a complete engine, pulleys, alternator, Power steering pump, exhuast y pipe.

easy. just time consuming

yea getting the donor was a good move, i had to track down stuff piece by piece and make my own y pipe b/c the 5.0 was too short and when i widened it the pre cat hit the frame. i cut it off and made my own y pipe real professional looking aside fram a pinhole leak here n there.

Cool thanks

Thanks, i appreciate the responses. I also think I was lucky, about getting the donor truck. I not only got new back tires, but I also got new rotors calipers and pads, also. I dont plan on doing any Y pipe when i slide this puppy in as where i live there are no emission checking or vehicle inspections on any vehicle plated with license plates rated 10000 pounds or higher. I am just going to do straight 3" pipe to two flowmaster mufflers. Mainly I guess i was worried about things like vacumm lines and fuel line issues. i think i am going to pull the motor and put it in my basement and work on re gasketing the motor, replaceing the torque converter, painting the block and chroming some parts like the valve covers etc. Was it the C6 that came in the 84 351?

I am going to have to buy a floor shifter which wouldnt be that bad. I got that truck for free, my buddy was moving out of his trailer and into his old rental house and had to get rid of the truck since he had to park it due to severe rust damage to the body. and i mean severe. I hope to when i am done to replace the custom badging with XLT badging. I am going to do a quadruple bypass on that thing...lol

Thanks again.
