Which 5th Wheel Hitch Would You Choose Of These And.....

Thank you for your reply, I’m still doing a little more research on which one to get but I am waiting to see my friends AUH In person again to 100% understand how it is mounted because his was one of the ones that twisted around in the bed a little bit......As ARMY RET. has stated.... it twisted around in my friends bed because he did not have it mounted correctly which makes sense.

The steel version mounts on standard rails (4 pins). I opted for removable rails that anchor in the gooseneck socket as shown in my post before Sous. The Aluminum Version anchors in the gooseneck socket then you tighten it up with 2 bolts just no rails. You won’t be disappointed with either version...

This...
My truck had 5th wheel rails in the bed when I bought it, so the 4 point steel AUH was a direct fit. These are the very same rails that a traditional 5th wheel hitch use.
The GN version I am less familiar with, but I have a friend that has one and loves it.

I'm surprised that the anti "AUH" group hasn't kicked in - as it is a very vocal group; too each his own.
There are many fine hitch choices but you need to decide which way you wonder, which way to go.
And once you decide you will rightfully become an advocate for that choice.
My choice was the AUH, "YMMV".

I’ve been using the Andersen for 3 years now towing a 14000 lb 5th wheel. I love it. when not towing I simply remove it and hang it on the garage wall.
I have mine installed on my bed rug Bedliner.
I modified my AUH, with Andersen’s approval, by drilling holes so that I could connect the chains to the pucks. The additional benefit is the it prevents the hitch from rotating.

I am also looking at the reese elite fifth wheel hitch for my 2020 f350 with 8' bed. I drvie a semi for a living and cannot understand why anyone would be looking at the lightest hitch available. With the amount of money I have invested in my truck and trailer I will not cheap out on a buying the cheapest and lightest hitch available.

Don"t look at aviation (and starships) where lighter is supreme; I expect one day to see composite hitches.

Technology advances and compounds/materials and designs follow suit.
When a new technology or mechanical advancement is brought to the world market, there are always naysayers.
Electricity, carbon fiber, horseless carriages, telephones and the cell phones, computers etc....
Other big name companies waited for Andersen to prove the concept and see if their product would sell. It did and does, so I know of at least two other companies that designed a very similar triangular hitch and have been selling them for a couple of years now.
Each person should purchase the hitch they are comfortable with, just like I am not comfortable with a 400 lbs steel 5th wheel hitch.

Hi, and thank you for your help – opinion. Basically I’m looking for more insight. 2020 F350 crew cab 8 foot bed 4 x 4, 35 foot toybox trailer roughly 16 17,000 pounds fully loaded. I’ve had two fifth wheels before on a 08 F350 and I had a Reese elite 24K hitch on that. Now I have narrowed it down my new purchase to maybe just these two and I would appreciate any positives or negatives on these two hitches, Thank you, Robert.
