2007 Navigator P0330 Code

Hello finally got my truck up and running. I normally drive with less than 1/3 throttle because this truck has enough passing power for my taste. One day I hit full throttle and it seems like something holding the engine back. At part throttle it still pulled good but over 1/2 throttle and it seemed choked then the CEL light came on for knock sensor bank 2 (P0330). I reset the code and drove it again and it didn't come on until I drove it aggressively. I only had it a few months and it has 118K miles so don't know where to start. Do think it is the actual sensor going bad or the truck is detecting knock? It isn't missing like my other Fords with bad COP when lugging at low rpm's it's the opposite at higher rpm's. I was thinking of starting with fuel filter then doing plug and coil change all factory parts.

I think you're on the right track. At 118,000 miles, it may be well overdue for its first spark plug change.

It might feel like it's being held back because it knows if has a knock-sensor issue and is backing off the timing.

Either way, with a mystery like this, it's good to fix the things you know need fixing and see if that helps.

I had gathered up and bought what I needed to do a tune up and fuel filter change then on a whim decided to drive it just to detect the issues. I noticed when engine was cold no issues and only when it warmed up (closed loop) so that did now put tune up in question. I started to wonder was it the sensor itself and plugged my scanner in and saw that the ignition was advanced and retarded while driving so was no sure.

I took it to local family small shop and they believed it was knock sensor and took everything apart and it appears that a mouse/squirrel chewed through that wire and left a lot of acorn and walnut shells around intake manifold and spark plug well that they vacuumed out. Problem appears to be solved!!!

If the spark plugs have never been changed I think it's important to change them now.
For two reasons: One is that the longer they are in the more likely they are to be stuck and cause them to break upon removal. Two is that when the gaps get too big the coils run hot and they will fail. Also too big of a gap is hard on the circuits in the PCM.

This happened to my daughters car: The plug gaps were at .080" causing one of her coils to fail also the circuit in her PCM on that cylinder had failed.

I would like them changed just scared of the possible issues. The shop that did the knock sensor said that on rare occasions the threads come out (?) with trying to remove the plug. I have removed a spark plug tip from an Explorer 4.6l 3v and it wasn't a big thing but I have seen online that the porcelain can break off inside of cylinder. I believe a warm engine and 3/8 impact would be best but I have heard everything from cold engine by hand to hot engine with impact. I might get the nerve to try or take to shop but just haven't felt comfortable yet. This is the best it has run since I had it so trying to enjoy the non shop/issue time lol.
So far replaced
AC compressor
condenser
both window regulators
front brake pads, rotors, calipers, hoses and ABS pump
rear wiper motor/arm ($800 at Ford ouch)
passenger manifold with stainless studs
axle seal
fan clutch, belt and idler pulley (old belt broke and took out fan clutch housing/wiring)
