Thought I would introduce myself. I’m Shawn and I live in north Texas. I currently own 2 77’ f150’s one is a long bed 2wd and the other is a short bed 4wd.
Nice looking trucks! Especially like the shortbed 4x4. Is that a parts truck I see in the background? Be sure to ask any questions and post some more pics of these beauties so we can see what's going on with them!
Thanks for the welcomes! rougeriver what part of NTX are you from? I’m in the Bonham Tx area.
73GreenBean- yep that’s a parts truck in the back ground. I bought it as a package deal with the 4x4. It is also a 77 and came complete with a 460/C6 that is eventually going into “puddin”(yellow truck). As far as truck details, puddin currently has a 400/C6. I bought it in June of last year and have pretty much went through everything but the engine/tranny. All new steering, djm Dream beams, shackles and hangers out back, brakes, exhaust, tires and wheels. We have been driving the dog out of it since. Made some car shows, evening cruises with the misses and countless runs to town. It’s been a super reliable old truck. The engine will eventually have to be replaced, it’s been knocking for a while now. I just wanted to enjoy it for a while before I pulled the motor.
The black 4x4 was a friends truck, he owned it for years and swore he would never part with it. I called him about his parts truck and he shocked me when he said I could buy both! He told me when I bought it that the engine smoked and needed a rebuild. So I dragged the old girl home before he could change his mind. It has a 460/C6/NP203 in it. We put a new Holley 750 on it and she busted right off! Eventually we replaced the fuel tank and pump and got it running and driving. Last weekend I put a new champion 4 row radiator in it, replaced the front axle bushings and put some used tires on the front so that we could use it this winter. It still needs a ton of work but for right now it’s a driver.
Great stories on both trucks! Luckily it sounds like you called your buddy at the right time, good for you. I've got a buddy who also painted my 73 that is building an identical twin to your black one. Shortbed, black, 4WD, everything the same. Take good care of that bed, those alone go for what a solid 2WD restored anything will bring around here!

Unfortunately, the short bed is in rough shape. It has a huge crack by the cab stake pocket, it’s rusted on the top side of the wheel wells and the driver taillight corner is crunched pretty bad. It can be fixed but it would be very costly. Most likely we are going to build a flat bed for it.
