...................On the other thread, a guy said he uses a gb150 to start a skid steer. Do you think it f necessary it would start a Caterpiller 100hp skid steer? That is what I usually rent along with a forestry mulcher..................
I have had my GB150 for two years now. No issue holding a charge. Each year I draw it down a bit by charging our phones, tablets, and other things - then give it a good recharge. Very impressed with this model and the GB40. I did have to jump start a work vehicle with the large CAT engines -- it did it's job and fired it up.
people have already said it, but the Noco Genius Boost. I have the GB150, which is 4000 Amps. Way overkill for the most part, but Ive started a couple of kenworths and internationals in the dead of winter that had 100% dead batteries. Personally i would go for the GB150 or the GB70, as theyre the biggest of the options
I've gotten to use the 40 once. Rolled up on a family who's minivan wouldn't start. Got all excited and busted the NoCo out. Nothing. Wouldn't even turn the van over.
Got out the jumper cables and attached them to my F150. I think something may have been very wrong with their battery because even then their van struggled to start. But I got them on their way.

The Genius Boost won't provide a jump if it doesn't detect sufficient voltage. But you can override that safety feature.
My 70 has not failed to start anything from a riding lawnmower all the way to a 300+hp i6 diesel in a well servicing rig. I would guess 20+ jumps in just less than a year. Bought it last year on a Black Friday sale. It just got recharged yesterday for the second time. To say I am impressed is a understatement. The only downfall is it doesn't like cold. It still works but you can tell it has less cca. I would buy another in a heartbeat. Cj
If you have a gas engine, you might go with one of these. They never need to be charged and use the remaining power in your battery to jump it. I have one in my Corvette (RM750) that is good up to an 8.0L engine. While the larger unit (RM1000) will work on some diesel engines, they don't make one large enough for the 6.7 yet. I just carry jumper cables in the 7.3 and the 6.7
Something that may be helpful, if you are stuck with weak batteries and no jump pack or jumper cables, if you have the remote start option try that. Remote start doesn't turn any accessories on prior to the start cycle so the lack of all that extra draw may leave weak batteries just enough to start the truck. At least that was the case when my 2012 F350 6.7 wouldn't start with the key.
Hi guys,
The info on here has been great. I work alone in semi remote areas and certainly don’t want my atv, side by side, tractor, truck, or any rented Cat machinery to be stranded along with me.
Sometime a silly thing can happen to cause a battery to not be ueable. The most common in my years has been mouse chewing insulation then something goes wrong.
I will be looking for a Black Friday sale so Wifey can get me the gb150 for Christmas. If anyone learns of a good deal please share the info.
thanks and best wishes.
