The 1960 F600 is getting an upgrade. Salvaged this clean 50g tank and brackets off an L series 6 wheeler. Both brackets and tank have the Ford emblem and their part numbers. Maybe the sending unit will jive with my gauge, fingers crossed. Looking forward to sliding the seat back alittle further.
Notice the safety catch bar up to stop bed coming down. The hydraulics haver never budged, but I am to chicken 🐔 to work under there with out it
Excellent. My dad's '58 had a round 40 gallon in that spot. Is that your only tank now? The '58 had a manual valve sticking out in the footwell below the driver. Sender on the seat tank only. You'd run the side tank out, then you'd have the gauge for the seat tank to clue you on refueling. Made for a nervous moment or two reaching down for that switch at speed when the side tank went dry.
Even with good hydraulics one should never work under a raised bed without it being blocked
I have the same hoist for my 93 F-800 diesel, it's fuel tanks also look much like the one you have.
Have similar setups and would add that it's important to replace the rubber "padding" under the straps/under the tank on the two support brackets --- seems to be a common area where friction/wear causes holes in these tanks..............readily available in 1/4" or so thickness, various widths on rolls.....cheap insurance!
BTW -- never trust those old hydraulics, block it for safety.
