I've read quite a few reports on here of people running a manual regen using Edge CTS or FORScan. I don't want to pay the price for the Edge product especially since I already have the monitoring capability using Torque on a dash mounted tablet. So, been reading a number of FORScan threads on here (except the super long one), but having a hard time finding the answers to my questions. If I were to get FORScan, I'll leave Torque on the android tablet. I recently shifted over to an iphone, and I have a Windows 10 laptop.
I've read that to run a manual regen, I would need to buy the Windows version of FORScan for my laptop. Is that true, or does the iOS version of FORScan Lite have the capability of running a manual regen?
Does the purchase of iOS FORScan Lite for $5.99 cover the licensing cost? If so, is there a time limit for that license?
What are the limitations of FORScan Lite for iOS?
If I have to run FORScan on my laptop for manual regens, I see there are 1, 3, and 5 year licensing options, but I also see a lifetime license is $50. I presume a lifetime license covers getting access to future updates, right?
Not sure about the future updates, but I would think with lifetime rights that you would get updates. Just remember this. Android and IOS is read only, to make any system changes or perform a manual regen with Forscan it has to be running on a Windows tablet.
I did a couple of manual regens on my 14 but waiting on my new Bluetooth dongle before I can access my 18 350.
Unless something has changed recently all you need is the extended license for FORScan which is free, you just need to jump through a few hoops to get there. The extended license is good for 60 days IIRC. After that you can generate another extended license quick and easily with your user name and email addy.
