Rear Axle Help.

Hi, the other day I had an problem with my 67 ford 1/2 ton 2x4 pickup with a rebuilt 352 and a three on the tree with a manual pull overdrive. The rear brakes went out on me and one of the drums broke into a bunch of pieces. Well I need help finding out what kind of rear end I have. It is not a nine inch. It is a posi with a rear cover that bolts on. Here is what it said on the tag-

C7TA-K

602909-4

3.54

I am thinking maybe and eight eight but I am not sure. I have been looking for a good drum but dont know what trucks to look at because I have some odd rear end. I mean all the trucks that I have seen have nine inches in them. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Matt

It's probably either a Dana 44 or Dana 60.

Check the VIN tag. Based on the 3.54 gear ratio. if the VIN displays an axle code of A8 it's a 44, and A9 or E9 indicates a Dana 60.

Of course, this assumes year rear end hasn't been swapped.
