Microsoft OneDrive.
I've been considering uninstalling OneDrive and I wondered if others here have done that. I don't use it, and it leaves little trails in a couple of places.
Strangely on my W10 Laptop (the somethiong Home version), I am able to just shut it off as a startup service-- and that should take care of that one. On the machine that I 'upgraded' to something premium, it doesn't appear in the startup list. It is installed and it does the same types of things.
I probably will uninstall it soon, but I always like to be the 2nd or 3rd to do stuff like that.

I laugh when I hear all these reports about identity theft, etc, yet vast amounts of people upload all of their personal information to “the cloud”, which is basically just a stranger’s computer.
I don’t even log into the Apple ID on my phone anymore because it starts uploading stuff as soon as I do.
I run Bill P's WinPatrol on all my systems and have done so for years. Despite repeated attempts to disable Onedrive, Windows periodically decides that he needs to run a startup. WinPatrol detects the change to the startup settings, ask me to verify or deny the change, and sets it back when I deny it.

Interesting. Sad, but interesting....
I ran XP for a very long time at home and WinPatrol was an important part of my desktop security. Now that I run Win10 I guess Scottie is redundant.

Thanks for the link!

SysInternals Utilities are still up to Date and very handy but unfortunately are not for everyone.

But there's a huge difference between the tools that Microsoft delivers to do what Microsoft wants and the 3rd party tools that do what Microsoft doesn't want you to know or do...

these utilities were not something that Microsux wanted you to have.

Spend some time at the RCE forums and grab a copy of the win7 source code then do some real playing

And yes for sure Microsux tools are mostly Crapware

You can just toss it somewhere like in documents or whatever. Navigate to your windows hdd (C: by default) and go to program files. Create a folder and name it; ShutUp10 and put the file in there. Right click on it and "pin to start". For a typical install style.
Check the settings from time to time. Apparently win 10 updates will override them without warning. My win 7 was crashing and it's about to expire soon and no longer to be supported with security updates so I was like, well, no point in installing a fresh win 7 now.Time to research and setup win 10 to make the best of it. I tried a couple linux versions first but nah,not for me.XP and win 7 I think will go down as the golden years of windows.I'm going to keep my eyes on linux mint and ubuntu though.I think they're onto something. If I was a bit more 'nerd' I'd be all in but if they can keep nerding them down for casual pc users, there's hope for better front ends for pc's to come.
Oh this looks good too. I'm going to do this next. I had removed a bunch of trash manually with 'CCleaner' (also free and clean at time of posting) but this looks even more intensive.

update; ^ That just un-pinned my good stuff from the start menu. Minor little inconvenience for the cleaning it did though.2 mins I had what I wanted pinned back.
What a shame we have to work so hard just to get and keep a clean pc these days.

If your hardware will support it, Windows 10 allows you to create a virtual computer and install anything you want to it. That's a good way to test other operating systems to get the feel of them. My unix background goes back before there was a Windows operating system so I'm pretty comfortable with them. I was always a fan of Red Hat because the amusements that came with the installation caught my interest. But that was back before Red Hat was a corporate entity. Most of my unix friends today are big on Ubuntu. I use AIX at work, and have CYGWIN installed on all of my Windows desktops and Windows servers.
