secure portable compute/comm
Hi,
In a month or so there's a good chance that I will be spending a lot of my time in a medical facility ( I won't be the patient). Anyway, I've gone through this before and there may be wifi, but it's generally spotty and (of course) public.
I'm looking for ways to use things like word and excel and be able to communicate securely for bill paying and other sensitive things.
I need something with a keyboard and a screen bg enough for an old person to read. (me)It also has to handle MS office and the like.
For comm, I don't know if I need a separate phone that can 'tether' (which I've never done), or maybe a VPN and just go with the wi fi (again , no experience).
If some kind of device for tethering is proposed, please suggest any you like.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
hj

Probably the best option would be a laptop with a 17" screen..
Dell has a 17" laptop for $649..
Inspiron 17 5000 Series 17" Laptop | Dell United States
You might be able to do it with an IPAD or Microsoft Surface Tablet. But they would be more expensive than the Dell
As far as security over a public WIFI That is a bit more involved.. A VPN is usually setup from home to an office network
