I am curious about what tires will come with the 2020 F350 Platinum single rear wheel I have ordered. The 19 and 20 order guide lists LT275/65/R20E A/T OWL as standard for the Platinum so my assumption is there will be no change in what tire is used. If someone has a Platinum srw, or maybe ordered the 20 inch tires as an option on whatever trim level, could you tell me what brand and model of tire came with it? I assume Ford is fairly consistent in which tires are used but I guess there is a possibility they use whatever brand has the best price which would make my question kind of useless. My last 2 trucks have both had Michelin tires. The reason I'm asking is I prefer all seasons for my type of driving and at some point will talk to a tire dealer about trading the a/t's for a/s's. I'm trying to get an idea of additional funds I need on hand when I get the truck.
Here's a 20" tire and they work great on lawn mowers :
The Super Dutys come with 33-34" tires, depending on options. A/T also confer a bit more payload capacity, I believe.
Whether you go with 20" wheels is more to do with cosmetics. I prefer the ratio of rubber to wheel that you get with 18" wheels and others prefer the ratio you get with 20" wheels. Either way, the tire is about the same diameter (I think within an inch of one another). A/T tires have a tad more aggressive tread and I think a stiffer sidewall. I think they're worth the upgrade, but others really like the smoothest, quietest rides you get with A/S. I just think A/S looks more suited for a 1987 Oldsmobile than a Super Duty truck.
Ok, I maybe should have said 20 inch wheels but the tires are made to fit the wheels so they have to be 20's also, as listed in their sizing. I've been around a long time and have bought many tires. I have never asked for a tire based on it's overall diameter. May be an age thing.
Thanks, Flyct, that's kind of what I suspected they would be. I think I could live with those. I have them on my current truck and they have done okay. They are a quiet tire for an a/t. I just don't want anything with an aggressive tread pattern.
