Dropped Axle Question

Hello,

I much like everyone else am redoing the front end on my '58 Effie. Can anyone tell me if a dropped axle for a 53-56 f-100 would fit on my truck? I saw one on Ebay, that is for sale in San Diego. Is there a shop in town that can either sell me one...or modify the one that I already have?

Don't know if the 53-56 will work.
The two places that I know of that are doing axels are
Mor-drop
Industrial Chassis

There was a post about this awhile ago. We all came to the conclusion that there not the same. There very close but not the same. I'm sure there's a shop out in cali that does work like that. -4speed

If you do enough to your springs, you can get the front down 5" and the rear 7"...according to PennDick!

That should look really good!

The 57 ford truck stock front axles will fit a 53-56. The end result will be a 1" drop on the 53-56

This info was published in the 1980 HOT ROD's PICKUP & MINI-TRUCKS NO.7 on page 39 (It is specific to the 57 but I'd say 57-60 are all the same)

So if the drop axle you're looking at is say a 3" drop for a 53-56, this means it will only drop your 57-60 a total of 2"
