04 Engine knock
Now this all happened almost 2 years ago. The truck has been parked since. I initially assumed it was an injector....as I had a fuel pressure issue right before. Managed to get a quick scan out of the truck before I parked it and it said #2 contribution/balance. Im trying to get the funds together to repair it now but, I'm reading that it may be a bent rod? So my question is, the truck ran fine before I had the fuel issue, is this injector related or rod/bearing related? And what along the line would cause the damage to the rod from a fuel issue?
Does it make the same sound if you crank it with the wire on the passenger fender?
Possibilities include, from least bad to bad:
Bent push rod or broken rocker
Injector damaged
Valve or valve seat damage
Bad lifter
Block or piston damage.
I'm probably missing some possibilities but those are good starting points. I'd do a bubble test in the fuel bowl to confirm driver's side head (you said you have a #2 cylinder code) and then pull the #2 glow plugs to confirm that's the cylinder with the problem. Then from there if that's it, pull that valve cover and oil rail and inspect what you can, down to pulling the injector and scoping the cylinder if you don't find anything up top.
