5.0 Swap

I recently purchased a wrecked 2011 F150. Good motor and transmission but was a 4x4 so I'll need new tranny. Would love to put a standard behind the 5.0 but not sure options on both standard or automatic transmissions for this setup. Its going in my 1980 F150 SWB. Thoughts/suggestions on what I should be looking for? I know the mustang standard will put my shifter behind me and I'm not wanting that. I'm not against automatic for now just not even sure what to search for on that. Would just sell current auto tranny and transfer case to fund replacement.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to FTE!

There are a couple manuals where you can move the shifter forward or back.

Are you familiar with transplanting a 5.0? They are fussy about sensor locations, and you also have to remember the PATS system isn't going to let you do anything if you don't have everything connected and the original keys.

There are sources, if you haven't done so yet.

Thanks for this! No, first time and getting help along the way. I've located someone who will rewire the harness for my application as soon as I pull the trigger on my transmission choice. I also have a shop who dyno tunes after engine and transmission are installed. Any help is appreciated! What manuals allow you to move the shifter? Would love a 6 speed.

Tremec transmissions offer the shifter move option. Usually I link to Modern Driveline, or Tremec. Today there is some problem with those sites and I'm being waved off of them due to security concerns. You might have better luck. This is another supplier.

I know nothing about rewiring harnesses. You can get stand alone controllers which might work better.

2013, an eternity but still worth reading.

Google your specifics, year of engine, manual trans. You will find a billion hits. Controllers and other parts vary by generation and the vehicle you're swapping to.
