Bed installation

1975 f100 4x4 short bed.

It’s been awhile but I recall there being a shim between the bed and frame on the forward two mounts. Of course I misplaced whatever it is. Judging by the marks the paint these things were about 3 inches in diameter. I believe they were thin steel; essentially fender washers. Can anyone confirm?

LMC indicates a foam insulation under all 8 mounts. I don’t recall ever seeing this during removal. Any insights to this? Thanks.

Yes it's common to find them there. the reason is to fit the bed to the cab and nothing else, simply body shims.

I just pulled the bed of my high boy for the first time and there was twice the amount of washer on one side as the other.

Any particular approach to determining the location and size of the shims or simply eyeball it where I see gaps?

I would just get some standard 3" metal washers, but I would get some different thickness ones. Almost like a shim pack. And use them to mostly help get the cab "dent" in line with the bed "dent".
