i purchased a 2018 f250 diesel that was in an accident. It runs and drives and I am working to fix it back up. I have never messed with popped airbags before. I got the drivers side removed but I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the passenger dash airbag. Does anyone have any specifics on the process? I can see the bolts holding the bag in but no way to get to them. Also any ideas how to remove that dash panel where the air bag is? It almost seems like the whole dash has to come out but I would think there must be an easier way. Also. Anyone know the location of the airbag module? All help is greatly appreciated.
Did you ever figure out about resetting your airbag module? Or did you have to replace it? Its under the center console but I'm guessing you've already found it.
Yes I finally figured it all out. I had to replace the entire dash. I can’t believe ford did this. It appears that on some of the higher end models lariat, etc. that you can just replace a panel but on the xlt you have to replace the whole dash. I pulled the airbag module out from under the middle console and took off the blown seatbelt and sent them to myairbags.com to have them reset. I have it all put back together now and no airbag light. I am still using the original front impact sensor as there was no damage to it and it is not giving me any codes.
By any chance did you have a u0151 code? I'm trying to figure out if my airbags will even be able to work on my unit since it doesn't seem to be communicating at all
No I did not have any codes. My understanding is that after an accident the module needs to be reset and that is what myairbags.com did for me. If you have not had the module reset I think you need to. They also fixed the pretensioner that was blown in my seatbelt.
