Interior Door panel Removal?

I have a '68 Custom Cab that has the chrome trim that covers the screws along the outer rim of the interior door panel. How do you remove the trim without damaging it so I can remove the panel?

If you can tell where the clips are slid a thin piece of metal inbetween the panel and the trim and push on it (don't pry on it). The clips (if you will) pinch together and will let loose of the trim.

Did Ford use the same "clips" like used on the wood backerboard type panels to hold the trim in place. I had a '77 Bronco that had the upgraded trim and they used metal clips that "pinched" into the hole and you simply pulled on the area where the clip went into the hole and it popped in the hole.

Is this the same type and they simply used the clips to hold the panel rather than screws?

It sounds like we are talking the same clip. I never owned a Bronco. Yes, they do the same thing as you described. Or you can do the trick I described above if they are not willing to come out easily. Some of mine are though and a few of them just pop out.

you said not to pry on them, but when i took mine off and put them back on, i just used a screwdriver covered in black tape(so it wouldn't scratch the paint) and pried them off. They went back on good

I thought you were having trouble getting them to pop out of the holes so I was letting you know how to get the clips to let loose of the trim. After that you could pull he clips out of the holes. My misunderstanding.

Some of mine where tough to get out of the holes when I first tried. Years of moisture rusted some of the clips ends together.
