Tailgate stops 1997 F350
1997 F350 longbed
Can anyone direct me to a source for the upper tailgate stops (I'm assuming they are made of rubber) or at the very least provide me with a picture of one. I'm not excited about prowling salvage yards for these since anything I find will be at least 22 years old.
My tailgate rattles. I have put a button-shaped stop in one side (something I picked up in a parking lot) and it is doing fairly well all on its lonesome but I'm rather sure it's not the right thing...and of course the truck really is equipped with two of them.

They make a part for this. NAPA had it in stock and I looked at it, but it was plastic and so thin that the bubble package that it came in would last longer. NAPA was telling me a lot of people break the part just trying to get it in. so I decided to make my own. The strips do work well, unless you take your tailgate off a lot, then it is somewhat troublesome.
Just sharing my solution for my vehicle.
regards.
