Weak 7.3. Solutions?
Only thing I’ve ever done
to it was removed the muffler. My issue is it just way down on power and not sure what it needs. Turbo, injectors, fuel pump ? Like I said, nothing has ever been replaced and it starts perfect every time . Just seems very sluggish at low and mid throttle. Max boost, foot to the floor is about 14psi. Can’t remember if that’s normal. Seems I need more petal to get it to go. Any suggestions On where to start? I have had the tank out to replace a broken pickup tube and it was all clean. Very clean!
for Boost Leaks: you should be seeing 20-23psi before defueling since you don’t have an OCR.
Up pipes
turbo for play
‘Fuel pressure, do you know what it is?
Fuel filter
Air filter
Hutch/Harpoon Mods when you dropped the tank?
300K is a lot of miles on injectors, how does it start?
Hutch/ harpoon mod??
She always starts right up. Even the few times I’ve run out of fuel, she started easily . Thank you!
‘Hutch / Harpoon mods, removal of fuel in tank screens, replace with a Racor filter, eliminates air in the system. Just google it.
Definitely sounds like you have a boost leak. Lots of information on how to check for them. Soot on firewall, up pipe gaskets are known to leak.
Completely stock will do about 15 psi. Need a billet turbo wheel to hit mid 20s to get into the PCM defueling situation. Need an aftermarket boost gauge to see it as none was present OE.
With those miles I would expect the up pipe collector donuts are done and the truck is pissing away boost. This would kill performance and be seen with EGT ad Boost gauges. Nice to have all them gauges, but I'd start with new bellowed up pipes because if yours are stock with 300k you definitely need them. Can be had with potential work involved, or https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/international-bellowed-stainless-up-pipe-kit-99-5-03/with ease of mind. Or whatever you can find in between. You may be able to see soot on the up pipes or firewall as additional evidence the donuts are leaking.
Polish those headlights with some 100% DEET to clear them up.
That Racor filter Colorado sent a pic of is the best IMO. Mine is still resting on the bench but someday...
