This may sound kind of picky but every time I fuel up my PSD, I wonder why they didn't put a fuel cap holder on the fuel lid door? My pickup is white and if you let the cap dangle, it drips fuel down the side of the bed and makes a MESS!!! I've see these holders before on other Ford products and sure wished they'ed put one on my truck. Anyone else run into this situation or have a quick fix remedy?
I wish I just had a dirt attractant problem. My truck is black and is scuffed where the cap dangles. I try to keep it tucked over the pump nozzle, but when it clicks off it jars it. I am considering getting the scuff buffed out and using the 3M clear bra material to keep it from scuffing. I think a small piece of that ought to do it.
With my arizona beige, the dirt and diesel doesn't really show up that much. But my neighbor was bragging about his 2003 chevy with the fuel cap holder a few days ago.... but then i reminded him about how mine was a ford and could handle the plastic cap hitting the metal, so I wasn't too worried. You could spot weld or rivet a little metal hook on the support part of the fuel door, that might work
crashandburn420...my black one is scuffed just like yours..I've tried to hang the cap over the lip of the lid but 99% of the time it won't stay there and then comes another scratch!
Yeah th black sucks in that aspect, but gorgeous otherwise. Just something about black and chrome that makes the world seem right again! I have thought about installing a hook, but riveting or spot welding seems like it would either punch through the metal or blister the paint on the other side. Also, clearance of the hook vs fuel cap might be a problem. Still working on he problem tough. I am reluctant to buff it until I have a fix. Don't want to buff it too many times and burn through. It is a real pita.
f-250zilla...I'd give some though to the idea of cutting the strap but with my memory so short, I'd probably forget where I put it or forget to re-install it! LOL
