Okay, did a lot of searching and still a bit confused. I will be doing a rear window install on my '56 and it looks like a pretty easy job. One question I still have is when/where (or if) I am supposed to use the sealant (butyl). It appears that some don't even use it.
I don't use it because it is a mess and especially for a rear window it should not be necessary. Windshields are a different story...more wind blowing water into the seal, more chance for seepage. A little liquid dish soap helps the seal slide into place and the window to seat.
