I recently started project "Iron Bull", that is, installing lift kit on my dually (8 inch lift from BDS) bumper, winch etc. I got all the springs etc installed in front with ease however I cannot seem to get the pitman arm to come out. I tried generic puller (3 prong) and it broke! The tool rental ones at Orielly are too small. Where can I rent one that can pull SD trucks?
On a separate note, I see this:
This specifically states, 2005 and up. Are the pitman arm different between my 2000 and 2005 SD? I was hoping to finish up the installation this week however a frozen bolt and this pitman arm is holding up the project.
@Vijay So you got the nut off? I’ve had pitman arms that absolutely refused to budge. The one thing that has always seemed to work is hitting it simultaneously with 2 large hammers right where it slides on the shaft. Kroil, PB Blaster are some of the better penetrating oil.

I stopped by pepboys and they had large pitman arm pullers(adjustable). It did not work the first time, the grab arm on the puller slipped. I used a G clamp to hold the arm together and then 2 foot braker-bar with a 2 foot pipe at the end of it did the trick. It all came crumbling down!
