Did you bother trying to actually figure out what is causing it instead of "F*** it put a trans in it"? For all you know it will end up being a wasted job and wasted days only to figure out it never needed a transmission in the first place! If I pulled that crap at my dealer they would fire me before I could finish explaining myself! Diagnose the thing or get it to a shop if you don't know how to diag. Sheesh.
Curious what the in vehicle troubleshooting process is for a trans that locks up in several gears.
yet another reverse issue it is a 1994 f350 5.8 e4od everthing worked good trans got low on fluid do to leaking pan gasket so i droped the pan cleaned it and installed new gasket and filled it with fresh fluid now reverse is very jerky till rpms get up and sometimes it dont want to go in at all any ideas?

I’m curious how you go from a working transmission to one that is supposedly locked up by only removing and reinstalling the pan then refilling with fluid.
ok update time i said screw it and floored it and it loaded up the torque converter and can not push the truck feels like its stuck in park and reverse at the same time
ok so here is the deal I have a big job coming up that I need the truck for so it can't be down long I already have a fresh transmission to put in that I bought right after I bought the truck because previous owner told me he was having issues with shifting so he had it flushed and I also figured if he managed to blow a rod cap off there was a good chance he was abusing it so anyways in not out any money just some time by swapping the transmission I can't afford to take it to a shop and I don't know the first thing about working on a auto so that is where I am but I guess it is time to start watching YouTube
Well ... good luck dude, if it works then more power to ya but if it doesn't work report back and detail some symptoms, check codes in the computer, all that ... make sure you use new torque converter nuts if you can get ahold of them, most of the time they are one time use (torque prevailing), take your time lining up the torque converter and bellhousing, flush your lines and cooler to get rid of contamination and use some good Mercon V for the new unit.
I feel you on the torque converter nuts I do have new ones thanks to summit racing and I feel like it should fix the problem I'm hoping this trans is from the right year so I don't have to change to pack and would there be any problem running dex/Merc in it

Dex/Merc is the original fluid from back in the day so would it hurt? Probably not but if you have MERCON V available use that, it's superior to Dex/Merc.
