Hi Ford Friends, I am installing the kickdown rod from the C6 to a 2150 carb in my 79 f150 project. The rod was a little to short. I cut it to lengthen it so U can install it. How much space should be between the end if the rod and where the mechanism that hits the end to rebound?
More specifically, once I clip it on the carb linkage. How much space does it need in front to move and strike the part in front of the rod when the throttle is maxed out? I have to lengthen this kickdown rod.
It's an automatic transmission.

Reason: Specifics
Hope someone has a Ford spec handy to give you. For me I just made sure carb screw wasn't maxed out either direction, push lever to full detent then adjust carb screw with throttle wide open. Just touch kickdown and back screw off a turn. It always worked for me.
hard to tell, a lot about your trans and just preference. These are supposed to be set while driving and arranged in such a manner so that it only hits passing at the last little bit or pedal travel to get to WOT. The kick down probably should not even be in effect at anything less than 1/2-2/3 throttle. Mine usually doesn't even max out the travel on the transmission with the pedal at WOT, the kickdown Usually is slightly less than bottomed out, but your vacuum module will also influence that shift and adjustent as well. Set the module to where you like the firmness/smoothness then adjust the kickdown.
