Anything that is API certified and not out of date should work fine. My dealer told me to try to stay away from the bulk pumps because they have seen several trucks with bad DEF after filling up at truck stops. Maybe this is a local thing though and I am sure lots of people use these pumps without problems. I typically buy the stuff from the local farm store for $5.99 a cube.
My truck uses so little of it, I simply buy from the dealer. I probably pay 3x the walmart price but every drop that goes in there is Motorcraft and dealer can never accuse me of contaminated DEF.
Walmart. I've never seen DEF at a pump, though I know they exist. Around here, I think maybe they're mainly at the Pilot, Flying J, Love's and other truck stops. But, around here, truck stops are $0.40 - $1.20/gal more expensive for diesel fuel. That's way too high a premium to pay for convenience and slight cost improvement of DEF.
With the 7.5 gal DEF tanks, filling is super easy. Just wait until the warning light comes on and you have both (1) PLENTY of time to grab 2 x 2.5 gal jugs of DEF at Walmart at your convenience and (2) plenty of capacity to take 5 gallons (so no need for the Ford funnel or any other device). At the next fuel-up, I grab those 2 x 2.5 gal DEF jugs and pour them in. They come with their own spouts and, as mentioned, you don't have to worry about overfill or anything like that. Dump both in and you're at 85-95% full ... off you go. Easy peasy.
Anything from any sort of even somewhat respectable store should be fine.
It is just DEF after all....not some special life saving medicine for an infant.
I have used about 20 brands from 20 different places in the fleet trucks...can't tell the difference.
I buy at the pump for the last three years. Probably almost 90,000 miles using Pump DEF from 2-3 different stations. Never had any problems with pump DEF
