Massage Seat Failed

Drove a coworker home today. 2019 platinium. Put the heated seats on and thought I smelt something but wasn't sure. Then put on the massage seats. Coworker made some comments about how nice it was then shut if off a little bit later. I noticed that all lumber settings were on minimium. I tried adding a little but compressor just keeps running so I left all settings to minimum and compressor shut off. Dropped of the coworker and noticed that the seat is blown up like a ballon on the bottom where you sit on. Air will not come out. Will call dealer tommorrow but has anyone found anything similar with their seats? A search on here found nothing.

We don't have any good mexican food places here. We have to drive two hours south and cross an international border to get to it.

Nine days at the dealer today and dealer can't fix the issue. Apparently tech has to email each day and wait for a response on what to do next. Truck was bought new off of the lot begining of October. I bit the bullet and purchased a new truck with a smile on my face so that I would not have to deal with issues. That smile is definitly gone. I know it seams simple and petty as it is "only a message seat" and as I was told by ford that "well isn't it still driveable" My reply was of course it is but it is not driveable when it has to sit at the dealer waiting on an email so the dealer's technician knows what to try next.

Canada does not have a Lemon Law. My question now to the people on this site whom have dealt with this type of thing before is what should I be expecting? Is it too much to ask that the person on the other end of the email to Ford be available to the dealer continuously until this is resolved? Is it too much to demand that my bumper to bumper warranty be extended because it cost's Ford nothing if there is no further issue's with the truck?

On my truck the side leather of the KR driver's seat was horribly wrinkled. My dealer had the seat replaced under warranty. My truck went in and I picked up the next day as they determined that the seat needed to be replaced and they ordered one. Few days they called me and said drop it off and I picked up later that day with a new seat.

Not a seat issue. They thinks it’s programming. Have changed modules and programming and checked wires. I suspect at first the dealer figured screwed up programming with Forscan. However I have never used Forscan yet. FordPass shows me disconnected due to master reset.

Day 14 or is it 15 and truck is still not fixed. The last nine have been full weeks at the dealer, the ones before where a day or two. Ford corporate customer service are so far useless in giving my any direction of how we are to proceed since it looks to me that it is not repairable. I have asked for a supervisor and one is supposed to call be back Friday. Anyone know what I should expect from Ford if they can't fix the truck. The issue was reported to them within the first two weeks of ownership. Oct 20 is the first day it went in I think. Any real life experience and words of wisdom? On one of the forums I used to frequent there was someone I think named Ford Doctor whom I believed worked for ford and would help out with such issues to get a resolve. Anyone like that here?

I would take the truck to another dealer. Issue should have been resolved fairly quickly. If they have reflashed the ICU (program) and it didn't solve it, then it could be in the seat. Could have taken seat out and installed one out of truck on their lot and tested it.

You have an incompetent dealer.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I agree about incompetent dealer. Ford corporate customer service or whatever they are called told me I should give then until yesterday to try before going to another dealer. Part of the reason I wasn’t happy with her on the phone is that I told her okay it’s Wednesday now where to do go from here. She had no answer. I said do we wait till February? She says no it shouldn’t take that long. I said well it’s almost two months already and nothing has been resolved. We will see if the supervisor provides any better resolve.

I had something similar on my 2015 F150. I got in the truck and the seat back was swelled up and would not go down. It eventually popped and had to be replaced, along with the seatback cover. That was about 6 months after taking delivery. After the repair I was a bit concerned that this would recur but it never did.

They aren't going to extend your bumper to bumper warranty based on 1 issue that doesn't disable the vehicle. And if they were inclined to do that they'd offer an ESP at no charge, which is different than the original factory coverage. But to answer your question, in my opinion in IS too much to demand they extend your warranty on the entire vehicle for a problem with a massaging seat. You should make your REQUESTS reasonable for the type of failure. Try to get them to provide an ESP for an extra 12k miles, something like that.

9 days in the shop is ridiculous to have made NO progress. Has a field engineer been out to look at the vehicle? I'd be discussing a buy back and getting another vehicle at this point. If they can fix the problem try and get Ford, not the dealership, to give you an additional 12/12 ESP for your inconvenience. I don't know if it's in the shop at your selling dealer or not, but I'd be talking to the dealer principle or general manager of your selling dealer...not just the service manager. Let them know the problem you've had getting this fixed and how long you've been without your truck. Suggest to them that Ford either buy it back or give you a satisfactory trade assist (basically cash toward a new truck that can be applied after the price negotiation).

Good luck with this!

Classic Ford Service.

I had a bad steering gearbox in my 18 350 from the factory. 2nd ford service department said they need approval from a Ford manager or some crap. Which i had been in contact with before taking it into the service center. When i tried to contact said Ford manager, my 8 phone calls were NEVER returned. I said F it and replaced the steering gearbox on my own dime and time. Guess what?!! My steering problem was fixed. By me.

If you want it done right the first time, do it yourself. Sorry to say that. Sorry to hear about your seat & ford service center problems.

Its bad enough to have a problem with a new Ford. Its only worse when a 2nd problem known as Ford service center is added to the equation.

This really sucks. I would think maybe a different dealer might yield better results? I had a seat heater go out in my 2018 platinum and it was painless process. Took it in, they had to order a part, brought truck back next day and they fixed it.
