New guy here. I've been creeping around this site all summer and finally decided to register. I've been a chevy guy for a long time. I have a 2007 2500hd duramax that I've owned for 10 yrs. Decided it was time for a new truck. So I drove a GMC that I liked on the lot. I decided if I was going to spend the money on a new truck I owed myself some due diligence to at least drive the ford. The rest is history. I'm now the proud owner of a 2019 F350. Love the truck!
All three of the big truck builders make great trucks.
I was a long time Ram/Cummins owners.
After I jumped to ford a I realized we (Ram owners) put up with a lot of stuff.
Also seemed like Ram was about 5 years behind Ford in new technology.
Hope you have good luck, I know some that if they try a new brand they always seem to get a limon.
A 2007 Duramax classic has a very good reputation, so the fact that you ended up here says a lot.
It has been a great truck. The only thing I've done to it was replace the glow plugs, and a rusted out brake line. I still have it as my every day work truck. I only take the ford out on special occasions!
I’ve always been intrigued by guys who can switch brands. Especially when they were happy with a brand but decided to jump to another side. We haven’t had anything in our yard but a Ford since the early ‘80’s, even though there were years that I liked features of the GM or Dodge’s better. The loyalty just keeps us bleeding blue.
What were some of he factors that brought you to Ford, if you don’t mind me asking? (Other than the hideous grille on the new Chevy HD’s )
Some of the reasons I switch was the large back seat. I have 2 kids and we go camping alot so that was important. And they aren't getting any smaller. Also all the power ports at the back seat to charge their phones or tablets on long camping trips. Gm has 1 cig outlet. The power extend on the mirrors. Gm doesn't even offer it. Another reason is the DEF. I have a gauge on my ford! Also don't have to pop my hood to fill it, or stare at a big tank hanging below the frame. Ford has heated rear seats. I also like the camera by the 3rd brake light, again not available on a gm. Ford had better box lights than gm.
One thing that I dont really care about but definitely has a advantage over gm is that monster sunroof. That thing is HUGE!
The disadvantages to the ford is the ride. It is definitely rougher than the gm. The only other disadvantage to me was the height. I can barely get it in my garage. And I had to totally change my camper setup. But it's not a big deal if you don't pull a 5thwheel. The pro's far outweighed the con's for me. I did hear that gm has caught up on some of the deficiencies with the new model. However I haven't seen one in person. And probably wouldn't buy one anyway with that hideous grill.
That's exactly the color combo I'm looking at for next summer. Very nice!! We are looking also at a 5th wheel in a year or two, so the F350 would be what I'm going to do also.
I'll be looking at a loaded up Lariat, but I sure don't need or want the sunroof. Might have to order the truck, so I can not have to spend money on a option I never use.
