It looks like you have Pioneer 872032 which is a rebrand of Powerbond PB1060SS. You can see that PB number on a photo you posted. Per Summit Racing, it fits 1969 - 1980 5.0L. It looks like it does NOT "fit" the 1996 5.0. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...-size/5-0l-302
Pioneer 872034, per Summit, fits the 1996 5.0 (except 5.0HO but that doesn't apply here). If you look at the pictures, it looks a lot more like your old HB vs. the PB1060SS that you got. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...ions/year/1996
It also looks like the one on the rebuild website someone linked earlier.
Not sure if I wasn't clear, but Pioneer 872034 is different from the Pioneer that you already bought. I can't give you any more info because I'm Monday-morning quarterbacking this, but thought it might help. Good luck.
Edit: both 872032 and 872034 are outrageous on Rockauto. The 872034 (if you determine it's what you need) is on Amazon (prime) for a little over $180.
There is also a review on Summit for a 5.8 application that implies the tone ring will fit, though the reviewer said it needs to be modified. Not sure if that would be a 5.8 issue, or 5.0 also. But it does imply you can reinstall the tone ring.
The pioneer balancer doesn’t work. Has anyone ever sent in their old one to damper doctor to get it rebuilt? I got a quote and it costs the same to get it rebuilt as it does to buy a new one.
None of the places a checked out have it in stock and the only reply I got was from damper doctor and they suggested to send in my old one to get it rebuilt
In the third sentence above you say the cost of rebuild is the same as buying new. Can you buy a new one that will work on that truck? I would suggest getting it rebuilt and being done with the obviously dead end searches.
I have a harmonic balancer without the pulse ring on my 1996 f150. Persistent CEL but that's it. Only real bummer is it makes misfire diagnosis less than for proof. 50k miles this way so far.
I bought the one on rock auto and it didn't have the ring or mounts. I don't think a correct replacement part exists. Rebuild is the only option as far as I know. Misfire sensor doesn't matter that much to me so I didn't look too far into it.
I just sent my old one out to get it rebuilt. I’ll let everyone know how it goes and send some pictures when I get it back. One more question about the pulse/misfire ring, when I took it off of the balancer, I didn’t see any marks or notches that indicated it had to be installed in a certain way. Is this correct or do I have to reinstall it in a certain way?
If there is a missing tooth (i.e. one of the spaces between the teeth is bigger than the rest) it is installed in a certain direction. If all the teeth spacings are the same, it won't matter.

Ask the folks that are rebuilding the thing, they would probably know.
