Does anyone else besides me find it odd that there is NOBODY reporting about a first drive of a 7.3?? I realize it hasn't shown up on lots yet, but there has to be some testing or performance evaluation out there somewhere. I remember before the 6.7 was released, there was plenty of talk about its performance. Either Ford had done an exceptional job of keeping a lid on this thing, or I fear it is going to be a "nothing burger" of an engine.
My $0.02: a test drive of an empty truck is worthless. The last thing that I'm looking for is a truck that can impress with its ability to haul-@$$ when empty. I want something with the performance characteristics of a dump truck.
Certainly towing tests will come eventually, but the pre-release sneak peaks are often empty...
i havent seen any media test drives of any trim/engine of the 2020 super duty. there might still be a media embargo or Ford hasnt given anyone a media test vehicle. not really concerned since just recently released the full specs.
I think the new engine will perform well. Up to expectations? I doubt it because I think people are expecting it to be more than it is. What should be great is the 10 speed. That will be the game changer.
I, too, think it will do very well, especially with the new 10 spd. However, the pre-release hype has been so high that it might be hard to live up to the unrealistic expectations.
I like the fact that it will be the new engine in many of the commercial applications such as the F53/F55 chassis for RVs, and the E-series 450 chassis for small motor-homes, etc.
TFL Truck took a Silverado with their 6.6L gas up the Ike Gauntlet at max GCW. No diesel but I think it did pretty good hauling 16.000#'s up that grade.

How I read it was that it had a meh performance, but it is maxed out AND its going up a STEEP INCLINE at Elevation. All of this while being naturally aspirated
