Hanging Idle
2000 F250 6.8l gas, 200k miles. It just started happening yesterday. After running down the highway and coming to a stop the idle seemed to be hanging about 16-1800 rpm. It took a little more effort to stop. I slipped it into neutral and gave the throttle a couple taps and the rpm came down but not like normal. It did this two more times but not as high in the rpms, maybe 1400 on the tach. I'm 1300 miles from home and limited tools with me. So far, it hasn't happened today. Any ideas on where to check that hopefully won't involve a shop if it starts acting up again? I do have a VOM and code scanner.
