Most common I've seen is using a Mustang gas tank between the frame rails towards the back. Heaps of information about it on this forum as well as other sites like YouTube.
The biggest decision to make is where to locate the filler connection. The coolest I've seen is where someone made a rear tail light assembly that popped out to reveal the filler tube
Tony:
Yes, there are a few threads on that modification, here on FTE. So, there are many ways to accomplish it. I chose the 22 Gallon Mustang tank from Tanks Inc, due to the capacity and the fact that I wanted a tank that was fuel injection ready. I removed one frame crossmember and welded nuts to the frame so that the rear crossmember could be bolted in without access to the inside of the frame which was blocked by the new tank. I mounted my tank on a frame fabricated from 1/2" x 1" box tubing and slid it in from the rear. I chose to place the filler lid in the bed for simplicity.

Like I think it was 1954 Cadillac. Had the hardest time finding that one!
