I also ended up with the general grabber atx. I only have a couple hundred miles on them but they seem to grip well with minimal road noise. I did back the pressure down as they seemed squirmy with more than 65 psi unloaded. I have a good contact patch at about 55 psi. Obviously when loaded, more pressure will work fine. We will see how they do through the winter.

I had the hankook dynapro ATM on my old Suburban, Also a great tire I had them in a 285/75 16 E rated.

Mine were on my 600 hp Cummins. I don't remember the metric size but they worked out to be 33x13" I wanted the widest tire I could get and they were one of 2 tires that fit the bill because I didn't want any sort of mud tire. The second was the cooper discover AT3. I went with the hankook because they had a higher speed rating than the coopers. There was a noticeable difference in grip with them. I ran 4 different sets of tires on the Cummins and until the hankooks I could boil the other 3 sets of tires at any speed I wanted to below 40-45 mph. The hankooks moved that number down to around 32mph, once I hit 3rd gear there was no spinning them.

I’ve been rolling on Yokohama Geolander ATS for the last couple of years. I’ve been very happy with them.

Hey ArmyLifer,

Are your Geolanders load range D or E? Reason I ask is I was told a couple of years ago by Discount Tire that they could not get them in E. I had a set on the truck but had one fail on vacation and had to replace. Later another failed and they did me right on a new set of BFG’s. I kept the one tire I replaced. It’s practically new. If you want it, it’s yours. 285/75/16. I’m in Carrollton if you are still down at Ft. Benning.

Mine are load range E. Got them from Tire Rack. I’ve got one on the spare too. Thanks for the offer.

Not so funny story. When I drove back from Texas with my new to me Ex, there were three load range D Michelin’s on it and one load range C. Didn’t notice until well after the deal was done and I was on the way home.

NNNOOOOOOOOOO.

I had a set that was three years old and they were dry rotting. Switched to Nitto AT and I’m perfectly happy with those. My other truck has a Hankook AT/M and my wife’s QX56 has Michelins. And my work truck had Wildpeaks. Those were good tires.

Nitto AT — never had them before so no experience.
hankooks AT/M —- great tires. They started getting broken belts and rubber cracking and hardening at about 8 year mark. I got another set as they were not bad tires.. Other than that no issues. Smooth . Got noisy when they got to 1/2 tread
Michelins—- great tires. They don’t like to sit. I had a few sets develop huge sidewall cracks. My wife’s haven’t but she parks inside. Quiet throughout the life. Great performance.
Wildpeaks—-great tires. Had them on a 3500 service body truck. They didn’t last long I think 45,000 but truck was heavily loaded. The tires were smooth and quiet good traction.

I've been running stock size 23586R16E Firestone TransForce H/T tires on my L99 F-350 2wd Dually for nearly 10 years now, they seem to wear well and at least 2 small fleets, including 1 commercial tire store runs them on their service trucks!!
They told me they could run ANY brand that they wanted but the Firestone TransForce was the best all around tire that they had ever run-That was enough for me!!

So after getting a great deal from Discount Tire Direct 154 a tire shipped with install at a local shop since there is no discount tire near me. The wrong size tire arrived or should I say wrong style, I didn’t get LT tires, I guess that guy on the phone didn’t hear me or something when I explained the price match. Discount tire was really cool about it and offered to send me the correct size ASAP but it would take a few days. So instead I ordered the correct LT tire from the evil Walmart and I will wait for the new tires for my wife’s car to show up instead from discount tire. Well Walmart’s tires show up in a day shipping from PA to MD. So I set an appointment to get them installed. I tell the guy it’s a long bed F250 and the tire size are LT265/75R16 and he says no problem. I drive to the Walmart with a tire place and it takes about a half hour with traffic. Get there, check in, hand keys over, show the guy the tires in the truck bed and explain what I want done with the spare. He says ok and off I am to shop with the kids for what should be an hour or so. 1 hour 19 min later I go back to check and see how the tires are going and the guy says oh yeah we can lift your truck our life can only do 9k. I kind of look at him with wondering eyes and say well that’s good the sticker says it weighs 8800 so your under. The he says he can’t lift it high enough off the ground??? The truck hasn’t moved so yeah that seems unlikely. So I ask why they can’t use a floor jack. He just says no. So it’s time for a manager. Manager says they can’t lift it, no reason just can’t but that the other Walmart down the road can (another 30 min). Says they will get me right in. So I drive down very skeptical but what the heck. Get there and they say sure we can do it but the wait is 4 hours. HA HA HA on me. So I speak to a manager and he is a condescending ***. So I call the store support (yeah I worked there about 10 years ago so I know the system) and I raise serious hell. Store manager calls me and apologizes wants to make things right. So tomorrow the truck goes back in and some auto care supervisor that wasn’t there today will change the tires for me free of charge with free road hazard and more importantly I get to pick up my refund for the 4 tires that are now free. Moral of the story Walmart customer service is the pits but if you raise hell things get done. These new Falkens are sweet looking by the way.

I run the firestone Transforce AT’s, second set on my 2000 and first set on my 2002. I get about 80’000 miles on then before they need replacing, seems to be a good all around tire, I have Michelin LTX’s on my wife’s 05, seems to be a good tire too, not as good winter time traction as the Firestone’s though!

My truck is a 2WD street princess, but over the last 13+ years, I've run the following (all 10-ply in 285x75-16 on stock rims):

Bridgestone Revos - great ride, less than advertised life in terms of mileage

Michelin LTS/X - great ride and excellent life

Michelin AT2's - great ride and excellent life (they don't offer the AT2's in my preferred size any more)

Michelin Defenders - great ride and excellent life
