All the manufacturers like to show their trucks and particularly CUVs/SUVs climbing Mt Kilimanjaro during a blinding snowstorm. And no, Subaru, a gravel road in Vermont does not count as "off-roading" (I have traveled countless rural New England gravel roads in a rental Kia).

At least, with the Ranger, a substantial number of people actually do leave the pavement.
