I've seen this on the back of our 2017 Nav and wonder what it is for? There is the typical hockey pock GPS antenna on the front roof for SiriusXM and navigation; the radio antenna appears to be lines in the passenger rear quarter window. So I'm puzzled what the stubby antenna on the roof is, pictured with the green arrow. Anyone know?
Really? What are all the lines in the passenger side rear-most window for, then? That antenna is so small I would think it would be pretty ineffective for AM/FM reception.

The lines in the rear quarter glass are a side defroster. The antenna is newer technology, where new materials make the reception better and the antenna shorter.

The physics of antennas hasn't changed. It's just a lousier antenna.

Just like I suspected, this is not the case. The lines occur only on the passenger rear quarter window and cover only part of the glass. They are clearly the radio antenna and not a defroster. Still mystified as to what that roof antenna is.
It does seem like other Navigators don't have it. I know "Ford Pass" came out in 2018 for Ford vehicles, but I wasn't sure if my 2017 Navigator L Reserve might have been an early adopter.
I'll try to snap a photo from roof level, maybe there is a brand or logo on it.

Ford Pass works on my son’s 2016 Edge, and it just has the regular stub type antenna over the rear hatch.
